Mark Lambert, 36, went to check on his eight-year-old son half an hour after he'd gone to bed and was shocked when he saw several bands were wrapped around his fingers turning them BLACK.
The landscape gardener, of Skipton, North Yorkshire, quickly took a snap of Brandon on his phone before removing the bands from his right hand.
He said: "I don't usually check on Brandon, but I am so glad I did that night. I dread to think what might have happened if I hadn't.
"If the bands had stayed on his fingers all night then he might have had to get them amputated.
"The circulation had been completely cut off. I took a picture quickly just because I wanted to show Brandon how dangerous they can be.
"He was shocked when he saw the picture."
Brandon spends up to six hours a day at the weekend playing with loom bands - made popular by celebrities like the Duchess of Cambridge and Harry Styles - but nothing like this has ever happened before.
Mark added: "I have no idea why he likes them so much. I think it might be because it is a craze. Everyone else is doing it, so he want to do it to.
"I want to warn other parents about the dangers of the loom bands. They are marketed as a fun and safe product but I don't think they are.
"They are like elastic bands, and elastic bands are not child friendly. They can be dangerous."

One parent posted in response: "Hi Mark Gardens thank you so much for your post! If my friend had not posted this on I would not have checked my eight-year-old daughter and would not have found her asleep with two fingers starting to turn blue!!!! So a big thank you, that's one child you have saved!!!"
Mark's warning comes a day after mum-of-six Carlie Lawrence made a similar plea after he seven-year-old son Kyle was blinded in one eye by a loom band.
